DTI grant-backed lean manufacturing consultancy, picme Ltd, joins the Haden Freeman Group.
Picme has an impressive pedigree, having originally been set up in 2001 by the DTI, Chemical Industries Association and several other trade organisations with the specific aim of helping to improve efficiency and competitiveness within the chemical, pharmaceutical, plastics, rubber and polymer industries.


Haden Freeman’s risk management consultancy is split out to form a separate risk management business, HFL Risk Services Ltd, creating a centre of excellence for the provision of compliance and safety engineering services to the process industries.
Haden Freeman and HFL Risk Services now form the basis of the Haden Freeman Group, a collaborative partnership of independent businesses linked by common ownership.


Haden MacLellan Holdings divests itself of its engineering business, leaving Haden Freeman Ltd as an independent business.


Freeman Process Systems is acquired by Haden MacLellan Holdings Plc, changing its name to Haden Freeman Ltd


Freeman Process Systems Ltd is established in 1985 to provide specialist process engineering and project management services to the chemical industry.

Andy Fowler


Andy is Technical Director and Principal Consultant for HFL Consulting. Key activities include his role as technical authority for the development of process safety services and personnel as well as delivery of global process safety auditing services, regulatory compliance support and training for major blue chip clients.

Sarah Grindrod


As a Director at HFL Consulting Ltd, Sarah’s main focus is on the improvement of people within the workplace, managing our training division and ensuring we both deliver our existing qualifications and courses effectively, and continually strive to develop new relevant material and programmes.
She is a chartered engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, with over 20 years’ experience in manufacturing, from Aerospace through to Upper Tier COMAH sites.

Ian Walker

Principal Consultant

Ian is a Principal Consultant responsible for shaping and delivering services related to regulatory compliance and risk assessment. He has overseen the delivery of COMAH safety reports for major blue chip clients across all sectors.
Ian is an accomplished auditor for Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems (18001; 14001; 9001).

Russell Page

Principal Consultant

Russell is a Principal Consultant responsible for delivering effective continuous improvement programmes with a track record of securing bottom line improvements from blue chip companies to SMEs. Working across a range of business sectors, Russell uses a core skill set that includes Lean, 6 Sigma, and TPM.
He is a Chartered Engineer, with Masters degrees both in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and in Business.


Principal Consultant – Human Factors Specialist (Permanent)

We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic self-starter to join a growing team of consultants and consulting engineers. The successful candidate will be required to participate in and manage a range of projects to improve the design, operation and maintenance of hazardous processing facilities.
This is a client facing role, requiring good interpersonal skills, a head for business and management experience, as well as a desire to remain involved in the technical detail.

Graduate Consultant

This is a client facing role that will require a mix of technical and soft skills. Working under the close supervision of technical leads, you will be required to perform a full range of activities related to identification of hazards, evaluation of risks, and demonstration that the risks are As Low As is Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).
